Students who are called to active duty, mobilization, or deployment should contact the Office of Military Affairs with their official orders and can receive guidance on next steps.
Student Checklist
Before Departure
- Notify Office of Military Affairs: militaryaffairs@uncw.edu
- Provide copy of military orders to Office of Military Affairs
- Meet with School Certifying Official (SCO) in the Office of Financial Aid to review VA benefits (if applicable)
- Meet with Academic Advisor and discuss academic options.
- Military Withdrawal
- Incomplete
- Continue coursework
- Submit required steps for selected academic options
During Deployment
- Complete coursework if continuing remotely
- Notify the Office of Military Affairs of any changes to orders
Upon Return
- Contact Office of Military Affairs
- Provide documentation of release from active duty
- Initiate readmission (if needed).
- Note: Graduate students should email gradschool@uncw.edu to start the process
- Meet with academic advisor
- School Certifying Official (SCO) updates VA certification (if applicable)
