Commencement Assistants
As a Commencement Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping the day run smoothly and ensuring every graduate and guest feels supported and celebrated. This is a great opportunity to step outside your regular role, engage with the campus community in a new way, and contribute to an event that marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
Key responsibilities include:
- Guiding graduates through the lineup and procession with confidence and enthusiasm
- Scanning tickets and welcoming guests with professionalism and a friendly smile
- Distributing programs to attendees as they arrive
- Assisting guests with ADA seating to ensure accessibility and comfort for all
Back of House Opportunities
Commencement Assistants are needed to help with day-of graduate name card pick-up and assist with graduate line-up.

- Friday, May 8 - CHHS Ceremony (4:45 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.)
- Saturday, May 9 - CSB Ceremony (7:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.)
- Saturday, May 9 – CSE Ceremony (11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.)
- Saturday, May 9 – CHSSA/WCE Ceremony (3:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.)
Front of House Opportunities
Commencement assistants are needed to scan guest tickets, pass out programs, and assist guests who need help finding seats.

- Saturday, May 9 - Morning Shift (7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)

Compensation for Working Commencement
Commencement work on Friday evening and Saturday will receive monetary compensation.

Mandatory Training
Commencement Assistants are required to attend training on Tuesday, May 5 at 8:30 a.m. in the Carolina Beach Room. In-person attendance is required.
