The Hundley Health Education Center offers a one-time course as part of its overall substance abuse prevention & education initiatives on campus. Challenging Decisions focuses on both alcohol and cannabis classes. Like all Hundley Health Education Center programs, Challenging Decisions places an emphasis on personal exploration and non-judgmental information to help student make the safe, healthy, and legal choices about alcohol and other drugs.
BASICS is a program, made up of sessions, used to help students explore their alcohol and/or other drug use in a nonjudgmental environment. The goal of the program is to reduce risky behaviors and harmful consequences of substance use. BASICS is a partnership of the Hundley Health Education Center and the UNCW Counseling Center. All BASICS sessions are conducted one-on-one with a trained facilitator and the student. It involves three one-hour sessions each separated from one to three weeks apart.
