UNCW maintains several articulation agreements with institutions around the state which may assist students in their pursuit of an education at the university.
The North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) is a statewide agreement governing the transfer of credit between the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and the public universities that make up the University of North Carolina System. This agreement establishes college transfer courses that are accepted by all UNC System institutions from all 58 NC community colleges. Students who complete the degree requirements will have certain guarantees that credits earned will transfer to UNCW. Admission to the university does not constitute admission to a professional school or specific program.
Transfer students who have obtained an Associate of Arts, Science or Fine Arts degree with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in transferable, college-level coursework from one of the community colleges listed below will obtain the following benefits upon their acceptance to UNCW:

Bilateral Articulation Agreement Members:
The Early Childhood Education Articulation Agreement is a statewide academic progression agreement that will promote educational advancement opportunities for early childhood education (ECE) students matriculating from the North Carolina Community College System to the constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina in order to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Birth-Kindergarten teaching licensure program or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related Early Education non-licensure program.
UNCW has agreed to honor the Uniform Articulation Agreement Between the UNC System BFA Programs and the NCCCS AFA in Visual Arts in respect to its existing Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art. Some University Studies requirements will remain for students enrolling in connection with this agreement.
The Uniform Articulation Agreement promotes educational advancement opportunities for registered nurses moving between North Carolina Community Colleges and the constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina in order to complete Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees.
The Uniform Articulation Agreement in Teacher Preparation between the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and the University of North Carolina (UNC) System is intended to provide smooth transfer for community college students who wish to continue their education in teacher preparation at constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina System.
This articulation agreement describes a progression degree plan that includes required teacher education degree plans and pre-major courses that are acceptable to all state funded teacher education program options. Students who follow the progression degree plan will have 60 hours applied to constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina System.
This agreement does not guarantee student acceptance into any bachelor program at University of North Carolina (UNC) institutions. Teacher Preparation students must meet applicable admissions criteria and policies designated by, and earn admission into, the UNC constituent institution of their choice.
