Our chatbot is named Sammy, after our friendly Seahawk mascot, Sammy C. Hawk. Sammy’s goal is to enhance user experience, improve efficiency and provide support to better serve our UNCW community.
Meet Sammy
Sammy is your 24/7 student support chatbot. He can help answer your questions and guide you to campus resources. If Sammy cannot answer a question, he will connect you with someone who can. However, he is not equipped to respond to emergencies. Need emergency help? Call 911 or 988. Chat with Sammy today!
EASY TO USE
Sammy is available in the teal and white box that pops up on a UNCW webpage with the message, “May I help you?” Sammy is learning to answer questions for Undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid. Click on the box and type your questions.
Ask Questions
Use a question format to ask a question and keep it simple. Sammy is not a real person but can help you to find the answers you need. You can also contact the department for more complicated questions using the form Sammy provides.
Multiple Languages
Click on the globe icon the in the teal banner. Right now, Sammy communicates in English, Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese.
Still Learning
Sammy is learning and getting better at answering your questions accurately. If Sammy does not know the answer to your question, Sammy will work with UNCW staff to assist you better next time. The more you use Sammy, the smarter Sammy becomes. Sammy will also provide suggestions and links when responding to your question.
