Institutional Effectiveness (IE) supports University of North Carolina Wilmington’s (UNCW) commitment to educational and institutional excellence. At UNCW, Institutional Effectiveness is defined as the degree to which an institution is having an intended effect toward meeting its mission. To that end, our office supports and facilitates continuous improvement through the collection of data, university-wide research, assessment and evaluation efforts, and data integration of technologies for effective reporting and sharing of information. More specifically, our office supports:
Accreditation:
Our office complies with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) standards and quality assurance initiatives through our assessment activities, research procedures, processes, and analyses that provide evidence of compliance. Our office also supports the assessment coordinators and program coordinators who maintain compliance with Regional Program Accreditation Agencies.
Assessment:
Our office provides expertise to support student learning outcomes, program outcomes assessment, and evaluation practice. Our office also manages Planning & Self-Study, used for reporting academic program and administrative unit assessment planning and reporting academic program review and accreditation reporting.
Course Evaluations:
Our office administers the Blue Course Evaluations to all approved graduate and undergraduate course sections per Faculty Senate Handbook guidelines. No evaluations are administered, or no course evaluations results are shared, when the course or combined courses has less than three students enrolled.
Faculty Activity:
In conjunction with the Provost, College and School Deans, and ITS, our office manages the Watermark Faculty Success (WFS) platform, a platform designed to collect and report faculty activity, research, creative arts and scholarship.
Survey Design & Administration:
Our office supports and assists faculty and staff with the digital survey development, administration, and reporting of results. Faculty and staff have access through their UNCW Single Sign-On (SSO) to Qualtrics.
