Establishes University policy and procedures regarding on-campus handling of personal shipments.
Scope.
Applies to all University faculty, staff, and students.
Policy.
General Statement.
Upon request, Central Stores will handle outgoing shipments of personal packages for faculty, staff, and students for a fee. If desired, the U.S. Postal Contract Station may also be utilized to mail personal packages.
Expenses Involved in Personal Shipping.
All expenses involved in shipping personal packages must be paid by the faculty member, staff member, or student at the time of shipment. It is against University policy for state funds to be used for personal shipping.
Procedures.
Outgoing Personal Shipping Handled by Central Stores.
Packages will be accepted at Central Stores during normal working hours Monday through Friday. Central Stores does not provide pickup service for personal shipments; therefore, packages must be brought to Central Stores for shipping.
Small, medium, and large boxes and some packing materials are available for purchase from Central Stores.
Cost of boxes, etc.; actual shipping costs; and handling charge ($1.00 per package) must be paid for in cash (or by check made payable to UNCW) at the time of shipment.
Central Stores will handle outgoing shipments via UPS.
At the time of shipment, Central Stores will provide customers with a receipt indicating the following information:
Name of individual making the shipment
Phone number of shipper
Article shipped
Value of article
Signature of shipper
Individual itemized costs and total cost of shipping
Central Stores retains the authority to inspect packages for adequate packing and/or verification of articles being shipped. Damage claims will not be honored for inadequately packed articles.

Incoming Personal Shipping.
Shippers will not deliver incoming personal packages to individual campus offices. Such packages will be delivered to Central Receiving. C.O.D. or "Bill to Receiver" packages are refused unless special arrangements have been made with Central Receiving. These arrangements may be made by calling Central Receiving at 910-962-3181.
Personal Mailings via the U.S. Mail.
Shipments sent via the U.S. mail may be transported to the U.S. Postal Contract Station in the University Union between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
