Interest Assessments

O*NET Interest Profiler

The O*NET Interest Profiler is a free online assessment that you can take to help you explore and plan for the right career. You will also want to take into consideration your skills and values, so talking through your results with a career counselor can help to either broaden the results of your assessment to include additional options or help to narrow it down.


CareerLeader is a required assessment of the Cameron School of Business for all students taking BUS 205 - Business Career Preparation. All others interested in the assessment can call Career Center Assistant Director, Leslie Wright, to arrange payment and review of CareerLeader.

Internship Predictor

The Internship Predictor is a quick and easy process to help you evaluate your personal preferences and show how they can help you pursue the right academic major, internship and career for you! Results include your career interests, profiles of careers that match your interests, your strengths, and the best work environment for you free.

Personality Assessments

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The MBTI is the most widely used personality inventory in the world. The preferences suggested by the MBTI can help you make career and personal decisions, with scores highlighting preferences on four dimensions. The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 personality types, which relate to career choices, communication modes and learning styles. The MBTI is taken online, and the results provided during an individual appointment with a career counselor, or through group feedback in a class, etc. Cost to UNCW students: $17. 16 Personalities

The 16 Personalities Assessment allows you to get a concrete, accurate description of who you are and why you do things the way you do, for free.  Your personality preferences influence your academic and career planning, friendships, etc.

Type Profiles

Type Logic offers in-depth descriptions of the 16 types identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Jung Typology Test, or the TypeFocus Personality Profile is free.
