We are so happy that you have decided to continue your education with us and we can’t wait to meet you! We want you to be successful in everything you do at UNCW. One of the things you can do to help yourself be successful is take advantage of special programming designed just for transfer students. We invite you to participate in our transfer student peer mentor program, The Teal Bridge, a one-semester program that assists transfer students during their initial transition to UNCW. A Teal Bridge Mentor is a UNCW transfer student volunteer who provides leadership and support to new student transfers through the Teal Bridge program. Every transfer student who requests a mentor will be paired with an upperclassman, based on common factors including major, minor and interests. Your mentor will help you find your way round campus and resources, help you meet other students, and show you what the Teal Spirit is all about!

Apply to be a Mentor

A Teal Bridge Mentor is a UNCW transfer student volunteer who provides leadership and resources to new student transfers to UNCW through the Teal Bridge program, newly instituted in fall 2013 through the Office of Transition Programs.

The Teal Bridge Mentor program is designed as a one-semester program to assist transfer students during their initial transition to UNCW. Each mentor will serve as a role model and guide for students as they become accustomed to UNCW life. Mentors may serve for more than one semester upon successful completion of application and interview, but will have different mentees each semester.      

For consideration, candidates must meet the following:




Application Process:

March 16, 2015: Online mentor application opens
March 29, 2015: Online mentor application closes
April 6-9, 2015: Personal Interviews
April 15, 2015: Mentor notifications sent

Complete the online application and submit it by Sunday, March 29.  You must attend mandatory Mentor Training on Friday, August 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Masonboro Island Room (FSC 2011).  If you cannot attend this training, you may not serve as a mentor Fall 2015.
