Register online: Compass Registration.

Some schools (UNCW uses only the Compass Math test) employ the COMPASS®, computer-adaptive college placement test, that helps educators quickly evaluate incoming student's skill levels in Reading, Writing Skills, Writing Essay, Math, and English as a Second Language. The test is used to place students in appropriate courses connect them to the resources they need to achieve academic success. See registration information at COMPASS®. Also, please contact your host school first to set up a COMPASS placement test at University Testing Services.

Test Time: approximately 3 hours.

Valid ID Form Required: driver's license, or passport, or military ID must be presented at the time of testing.

Date and Times Offered: ACT Compass exams are offered Monday-Friday with last time slot at 2 pm. You must register first with Compass to receive your registration number. Then register through our site for date and time.

UNCW Math Placement Test for New or Transfer UNCW students.

UNCW's Math Department uses a special version of the Compass Math placement exam for student's entry into an appropriate class. For new or transfer UNCW students who need information about the UNCW Math Placement exam, who should take it, and when it is offered by the UNCW Math Department, please see their web page: Math Placement Test Information.

UNCW Math Placement RETAKE

NEW: Register online: Math Placement Registration (retake).

Student who wish to retake the UNCW Math Placement exam can use the online registration system to schedule and pay for a retake of the UNCW math placement test. Preregistration is required.

Location: University Testing Services, Depaolo Hall, room 1021.

Schedule: You may schedule and register Monday-Friday online through our registration system (except during mid-May through mid-August when Friday afternoon tests are not offered).

Cost: $25 (online registration adds a $3 convenience fee).
