Recreation Majors Association

What is RMA?
The Recreation Majors Association is a student organization open to all recreation majors.  It serves as a valuable way to let recreation majors meet other recreation majors—networking, socializing, serving, and having fun are just a few of RMA’s objectives.

What is the purpose and mission of RMA?
To devote life’s energies to things worthwhile by developing men and women strong in body, mind, and spirit who will promote the recreation profession to the best of their ability by engaging in events that promote education, socialization, and service in the community.

What activities does RMA do?

RMA tries to find a balance between education, service, and fun.  Past activities have included meeting at the UNCW climbing wall, constructing a house with Habitat for Humanity, kayak trips, faculty vs. student volleyball game, roadside cleanups, volunteering with adapted sporting events, attending conferences.

Does it cost to be a member?
We ask that each member contribute a $5 membership fee per semester.

When does RMA meet?
RMA meets twice a month.  We alternate meeting on campus and off campus.  For on campus meetings we will usually meet in a Trask classroom, at the climbing wall, volleyball courts etc.  Our off-campus meetings will be at nearby, inexpensive restaurants for good food and socializing.  If needed, transportation will be provided.
