I often modify this recipe when I make it, swapping the semi-sweet chocolate for dark chocolate or nuts and dried fruit. In a way, making these cookies reminds me of writing. If you combine the best ingredients with a little creativity, you get good results.

The Weaver Family’s
Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies
  1. 1/2 c. butter
  2. 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
  3. 1/2 c. sugar
  4. 1 tsp. vanilla
  5. 1 tsp. cinnamon
  6. 1/4 tsp. + 1/8 tsp. salt
  7. 1 egg
  8. 1 1/8 c. flour
  9. 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  10. Semi-sweet chocolate chips (I use a 12-14 oz. bag)

Melt the butter and then add the sugars to the butter. Mix the dry ingredients. Stir the vanilla and egg together. Add vanilla/egg mixture to butter/sugar mixture. Combine the dry ingredients and wet ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips.

Chill dough for 30 minutes and preheat oven to 375°F. Spoon dough onto ungreased cookie sheet (golf-ball-sized dough balls work well). Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool for 3-5 minutes, serve and enjoy!
