Social Studies Certification
The History Department's faculty members are proud of their partnership with the Watson School of Education in the training and preparing of the next generation of history and social studies teachers at primary, middle grades, secondary and post-secondary levels. A history major is the most efficient way to work towards the credits required for secondary (high school) social studies teacher certification in the state of North Carolina. Future social studies high school teachers complete the 40 hour history major as well as additional coursework in political science, anthropology or sociology, geography, and economics.
You can find important information on the secondary education licensure curricula and preparing for admission to the Watson School of Education at their website.
