Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
Online Lectureship in Spanish (2 Vacancies)
The UNCW Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (http://uncw.edu/fll/) invites applications for two one-year, renewable full time lecturer positions in Spanish beginning fall 2014. The successful candidates each will teach four undergraduate language classes per semester. Though some may be semester-long language courses, the majority of these classes will be offered in the RN-BS nursing program (http://www.uncw.edu/oss/rnbs.html) as part of a new, innovative Online Accelerated Program (OAP). The courses for the nursing program are elementary- and intermediate-level asynchronous, online Spanish language classes that are offered in 7.5 week blocks. The option to teach these courses during the summer for an additional stipend is available. At present, the only degree program offered through OAP is the B.S. in Nursing, RN to BS option. In addition, these individuals will take an active role in FLL departmental service.
Applicants must have a Master's degree in Spanish, or in a related field, with at least 18 hours of graduate work in Spanish and teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching. Pedagogical training is expected, as is experience teaching online Spanish language courses. Experience teaching Spanish for healthcare is a plus. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is essential. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by May 23, 2014, however applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
To apply, please complete the online application at http://consensus.uncw.edu. Letter of application addressed to Dr. Christopher Dennis, Department of Foreign Languages & Literatures, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional references should be attached to the online application. MS Word or Adobe PDF attachments are required. Questions concerning the position should be directed to Christopher Dennis, Chair of Search Committee (email@example.com /910-962-3048).
