The University of North Carolina Wilmington, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Colonial Athletic Association, invites applications for the 12-month, benefits eligible position of Director of Women’s Basketball Operations. This position reports directly to the Head Women's Basketball Coach and acts a primary liaison between players, coaches, sport supervisor, and director of student-athlete academics. Position will also act as liaison to facilities, game and event management staff, visiting teams, officials, and media as well as acting as the liaison to the CAA on behalf of the team. Acts as liaison for women’s basketball student-athletes with sport supervisor regarding orientation, residence life issues, and wellness center and student affairs assistance. Coordinates all information and details with all appropriate staff to include the Trask Coliseum facilities staff, event management staff, campus police, media and public contact. Individual is also directly responsible for all women’s basketball operational logistics. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to, daily responsibility of monitoring women’s basketball student-athletes academic progress. Coordination of team and recruiting travel (charters, commercial flights, buses, hotels, meals on the road and itineraries). Responsible for pre/post games meals at home and at away games. Assist with on-campus official and unofficial visits. Coordinate community service events with team; fund-raising and promotional events; liaison to booster club. Assist with coordination of complimentary tickets. Coordinates schedules for team practices, practices with visiting teams, and competitions.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, Microsoft Office applications, Word and Excel required. Preferred: Experience as a collegiate basketball player or minimum of two (2) years experience working with a high school or college level basketball program. Strong organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills preferred. The successful candidate must adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and university, as well as the rules and regulations of the CAA and NCAA and participate in university, civic and public relations activities.
