The following is a partial listing of Film Studies Department alumni who are working or have worked in film or film-related production, publishing, or study, and those graduates who have been accepted to graduate school in any field. Dominique Barnes (FST 2007) assisted with foley recording on the feature film The 27 Club.

Kevin Black’s (FST 2004) recent production credits include set production assistant on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Terminator Salvation, key set P.A. on Brothers, and 2nd second assistant director on two television series: Crash and In Plain Sight. Kevin lives in Albuquerque NM, and is working toward joining the Director’s Guild of America as an assistant director.

Tyler Belile (FST 2009) is an intern at Intuitive Entertainment in Los Angeles. His L.A. roommates are all members of the same FST Senior Seminar production crew: Lucas Bolger, Bubba Noell, and Byron Swaim. Tyler’s review essay “Film Clash” was published in the cinema journal Film International.

Amir Berhannu (FST 2008) will begin law school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Fall 2009.

Ashli Bogart (FST 2007) recently began her third season as a casting associate on the Lifetime Television series Army Wives.

Michelle Boley (FST 2009) is a production coordinator of Top Sniper II, a television miniseries that aired on the Military Channel.

Chris Bowen (FST 2005) is a director at WWAY NewsChannel 3. He wrote and directed the satiric play Behind the Scenes of Fangsgiving 4, which was staged at the Thalian Hall Blackbox Theater in 2008. His new play Am I Here Yet? opens in June, 2009.

Luke Bruehlman (FST 2007) is interning as a producer's assistant on a feature film shooting in Pittsburgh PA, and is currently scripting a feature-length backstage rock 'n' roll musical.

Jessica Buchanan (FST 2005) is a graduate student in the Mass Communications masters degree program at San Francisco State University.

Justin Cioppa (FST 2005) is in his second year at the MFA Dramatic Writing program at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Kyle Clark  (FST 2007) is a camera operator on the crew of Top Sniper II, a television miniseries that aired on the Military Channel.

Nathan Daniel (FST 2007) is the co-producer/post production supervisor of Top Sniper II, a television miniseries that aired on the Military Channel.

Joel Davenport (FST 2006) is a graduate student in the MFA film program at Columbia University in New York City. He recently directed Test Drive, his first graduate student film, which tells the story of  a 7 year-old orphan girl who must decide if she will abandon her tomboy tendencies in exchange for a home. In August, Joel will direct Hitting Home, a short film about two best friends from Harlem who reunite after a year apart, only to learn that things have irrevocably changed.

Amy DeLigio (FST 2007) was the editor of Door to Door, a short film that premiered at the 2008 Cucalorus Film Festival.

Thomas Desimone (FST 2007) premiered his short film Sad State of Affairs at Jengo's Playhouse in September, 2008.

Ewart de Visser (FST 2005) is a graduate student in the Ph.D. program in Human Factors and Applied Cognition at George Mason University. He is working on a short documentary on a trip he took to Tanzania to work for Habitat for Humanity, a documentary about the field of Human Factors, and a revision of a feature script he began at UNCW.

Kristin Dombroski (FST 2006) is the assistant location manager on the television series One Tree Hill.

Benjamin Donnelly (FST 2005) recently completed a Master of Arts degree in Communication at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His thesis "Creating a Video in the Era of the Internet and Digital Age: How Innovations Change the Technical Dynamic between the Professional, the Amateur, and Copyright" incorporated a documentary film project.

Matthew Dornic (FST 2003) is the spokesman and publicist for the feature film War Child, the story of a Sudanese boy taken from his family to be a child soldier who eventually escaped and rose to become an acclaimed hip hop star. The film won the viewer’s choice award at the Tribeca Film Festival and screened at the Berlin, Edinburgh, and Seattle International Film Festivals.

Zack Drisko (FST 2008) is a production assistant with Reveille Productions, an independent television and motion picture studio and production company based in Los Angeles that produces unscripted television programs, as well as scripted shows like The Office and Ugly Betty.

Carrie Dufresne (FST 2003) is a camera assistant on the HGTV television programs Design Star, $250,000 Challenge, and Real Chance at Love in Los Angeles. She is making the transition to camera operator and hopes to shoot on the 2nd season of Tool Academy. She is working on conceiving and pitching her own shows.

Mitch Eakins (FST 2003) is an actor living in Los Angeles. He has appeared on television in a featured role on the CBS television series Moonlight, and in the pilot Rollers, as well as the feature films Tunnel Rats and Evil Bong II: King Bong (with Tommy Chong). Mitch appeared on stage in Point Break Live, a satire of the 1991 Keanu Reeves action movie.

Alex Elfner (FST 2009) published an interview and analysis of the new documentary Courting Condi in the cinema journal Film International.  Alex served as the journal’s Image Editor.

Janine Gericke (FST 2006) is a graduate student in the San Jose State University masters degree program in library and information science. She is on the Archives track and will soon be looking for internships for film archives and preservation. Janine recently submitted her first film festival report for publication in the cinema journal Film International.

Dustin Griffin (FST 2006) is a freelance, contract and travel photographer in Virginia.

Ryan Haggerty (FST 2005) was the director of photography on the feature documentary Tearing Down the Tent, which chronicles life behind the scenes at the Cole Brothers Circus. Changing Elevations, the production company Ryan started with Michael Knox and Film Studies alumnus Martin Ramsey, established an online film publication called ModernFilmzine.com, and created an audiobook on CD called H.P. Lovecraft Radio Hour: Vol. 1.

Logan Hendricks (FST 2006) is a lead editor of Top Sniper II, a television miniseries that aired on the Military Channel.

Terry Hobgood (FST 2007) is a graduate student in the Master of Arts degree program in Film Studies at North Carolina State University.

Cory Howard (FST 2004) is a member of the comedy duo Superkiiids! (with UNCW alumnus Jonathan Guggenheim). Cory co-wrote and co-starred in the Superkiiids! comedy feature Lightning Salad Moving Picture, which premiered at the 2008 Cucalorus Film Festival and screened at the Maryland Film Festival and the Fusebox Theatre Company in Nashville. Cory is currently filming Americatown, the new Superkiiids! feature that he co-wrote with the rest of the Superkiiids! team.

Eric Lee (FST 2007) scored Finders Keepers, a short film that was selected for a juried screening at the 2008 University Film and Video Association conference in Boulder CO, and won an audience choice award at the 2008 Asheville Film Festival. Finders Keepers will be featured on the North Carolina public television program “NC Visions” in 2009/2010. Eric works as a video network operator at MCNC, a company that conducts videoconferences and distance learning classes for North Carolina universities.

Lexi Lefkowitz’s (FST 2008) experimental documentary Indefinite Meandering of Words Left Unsaid won the Best of North Carolina award at the 2008 Hi Mom! film festival, and the best experimental film award at the 2008 Atlanta Underground Film Festival.

Brandon Leonard (FST 2006) is an assistant editor of Top Sniper II, a television miniseries that aired on the Military Channel.

Leif Lindhjem (FST 2004) is a graduate of the American Film Institute and works as a screenwriter in Los Angeles. He recently delivered the first draft of his feature film script Death of a Lion to producers Seunghye Jung, Jaewoo Kim and Yeonhee Lee. He has met with with Intrepid Pictures, The Hal Lieberman Co and producer Philip Pierce about his scripts I Am America and Everglade, and is currently revising I Am America for Steven Douglas-Craig.Leif is also developing a documentary feature about Operation Smile's 20th anniversary in Vietnam to be shot in November of 2009. He writes for the web startup Feed the Bucket.

Jordan Lindsay (FST 2007) lives in New York City, where he is currently directing a short film entitled Pugilism. This summer, he will receive his certification in Avid and Final Cut Pro at the Manhattan Edit Workshop. Before he left for NYC, Jordan was a video playback assistant on the feature films The Secret Life of Bees and The Bleeding, and made a short film called Suit Yourself, which screened at the Durango Independent Film Festival & the Kent Film Festival.

Melanie McCracken (FST 2008) lives in Los Angeles, where she works for Jenji Kohan, the Creator and Executive Producer of the Showtime series Weeds.

Ben Mize (FST 2005) received a Masters Degree in English with a concentration in Film Studies from North Carolina State University.

Colby Moore (FST 2007) is a rental technician at Technological Cinevideo Services in New York City. His short film Girl Powered premiered at the Jengo Playhouse in September, 2008.

John Moore (FST 2006) just completed his first year in the Film Production MFA Program at the University of Texas Austin. Refurbished, his first graduate student film, is a short documentary about Furbie toys and DIY culture. The film was selected by UT's exclusive Saddle Up program to premiere in New York City, and recently played in the Marfa Film Festival. John just completed a short 16mm narrative film about the cold war. He will be working with UNCW student Alex Elfner on a documentary to be shot in Montana over the Summer of 2009.

Jenn Goodman Mullins (FST 2006) is vice president of Oriana East Productions and the director of the Cape Fear Independent Film Festival.

Michael Pearce (FST 2006) and fellow FST alumnus Hillary Pierce recently created a documentary production company known as Compass Arrow Productions. They are currently co-producing and co-directing a feature length documentary about a children’s educational program in the Nicaraguan refugee slum called Bajo Tejares. Rage, a short film Michael made with FST alumnus Christopher Horney, screened at UNCW’s Lumina Theater last year.

Derek Pons (FST 2007) is the lead editor of Top Sniper II, a television miniseries that aired on the Military Channel.

Hillary Pierce (FST 2007) and fellow FST alumnus Michael Pearce recently created a documentary production company known as Compass Arrow Productions. They are currently co-producing and co-directing a feature length documentary about a children’s educational program in the Nicaraguan refugee slum called Bajo Tejares.

Kenneth Price (FST 2004) is a graduate student in the UNC Greensboro MFA film program. He directed the Superkiiids! comedy feature Lightning Salad Moving Picture, which premiered at the 2008 Cucalorus Film Festival and screened at the Maryland Film Festival and the Fusebox Theatre Company in Nashville. Kenneth is currently directing Americatown, the new Superkiiids! feature. 

Bevin Prince (FST 2005) is an actor in Los Angeles. She played the character of Marianne on a recent episode of the ABC television series Desperate Housewives, and appears in the 2009 feature films Groupie, Wreckage, and Dark House. She recently landed a part in the upcoming thriller Backstage Pass and will soon be appearing on a Web series called 120th Street Lift.

Jonathan Rice (FST 2007) works as an assistant editor and dubbing technician for Toy Box Entertainment, a Los Angeles trailer/post-production house that does marketing for all of the major studios. He is currently completing work on his first project as a lead editor: a trailer for an independent documentary that will be making the rounds at film festivals later this year.

Laura Riddle (FST 2004) is a documentary researcher at WRAL TV in Raleigh, NC. In the past year, her documentary production team won a number of awards, including an Emmy for a special on the DTV transition, and the Sigma Delta Chi Award and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for a documentary on African American teenage pregnancy in North Carolina.

Stephen Rogers (FST 2004) crewed as second assistant camera on the feature film The Killing Jar, and as a production assistant on the MTV program Cribs: Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and the CW network series For Better or Worse. His recent acting credits include the feature film Crossroads and the television series One Tree Hill.

Juan Santos (FST 2007) is a freelance producer and filmmaker in New York City. Juan was the unit production manager for U-Turn, a documentary about how human dependency on cars has shaped our way of life. The project was purchased by the Spanish television channel TVE. Juan was also the production manager of Subhysteria, a feature film about 16 people trapped in a NYC subway car.

Brad Sentor (FST 2008) is the post-production video editor and distribution manager for an international children's dance competition in Cary, NC. He recently produced, shot, and edited a harvest celebration master DVD for the Chatham Hill Winery.

Flake Shaw (FST 2003) is a post-production supervisor in Los Angeles. His current credits include the television series Why I Ran, Sunset Tan, and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew

Kara Still’s (UNCW 2004) feature film Altared won an Indie award of merit at the 2008 Indie Fest. Her screenplay Haley’s Ken made it into the quarterfinals at the 2008 Creative World Awards.

Byron Swaim (FST 2009) is an intern at Scott Rudin Productions in Los Angeles. His L.A. roommates are all members of the same FST Senior Seminar production crew: Lucas Bolger, Bubba Noell, and Tyler Belile.

Brian Teague’s (FST 2003) mockumentary AT3: Air to the Throne was named best picture at the Atlanta Film Meetup Open Screen Competition, and was screened at the Derby City Film Festival in Louisville, KY. Brian is currently working on a feature length script for a action adventure zombie western.

Brandon Tysinger (FST 2008) was accepted into the Film and Television Studies graduate program at the University of Glasgow. Brandon received a partial scholarship based on an essay he wrote about a Cuban director, and plans to focus his graduate research agenda on Latin American film.

Evan Vetter (FST minor, 2004) is the director of E*Media for the Port City Community Church in Wilmington.

Tina (Fuchs) Wanner  (FST 2003) is a stunt woman working in Wilmington’s film industry. She recently worked on the upcoming feature films Edge of Darkness, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, and Wreckage.

Jessica Ward (FST 2006)  was the “A” camera 2nd Assistant Camera on the TNT television series Leverage, and the feature film Main Street. She crewed as  the “B” camera 2nd AC on the feature film A Good Old Fashioned Orgy. In January of 2009, she worked as a gaffer and camera operator under the IATSE local 22 at the events surrounding the inauguration of president Barack Obama.

Joel Wells (FST 2007) is the programming and print traffic coordinator at the Cucalorus Film Festival. Joel was the director of photography of Door to Door, a short film that premiered at Cucalorus in 2008.

Elaine White (FST 2007) lives in Los Angeles, where she is a segment producer for non-fiction television programs for The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, The Travel Channel, and National Geographic. The highlight of her past year was attending the L.A. premiere of Werner Herzog’s documentary Encounters at the End of the World with the legendary director.

Richard Wiebe (FST 2004) is a graduate student in the PhD Cinema and Comparative Literature program at the University of Iowa. As part of the upcoming academic year, he’ll teach two undergraduate film production courses and one film studies course at UI. This past year, he taught a course in contemporary cinema, hosted a weekly music program on KRUI radio, and was the co-director of the ICE film festival and the University of Iowa’s 16mm/35mm Cinematheque. Richard was recently awarded a three year Crossing Borders Fellowship for research in China and Cyprus. He also received funding to participate in the 2009 University of California Humanities Research Institute's Seminar in Experimental Critical Theory in Shanghai.

Kayce Wilson (FST 2007) recently co-produced a harvest celebration master DVD for the Chatham Hill Winery in Cary NC.

Josh Woll (FST 2005) is the proprietor of Mosaic in Motion, a production company offering services in videography, editing, photography and design. This past year, Josh shot and produced over 40 commercials for local and national companies, and crewed as an HD camera operator for MTV, One Tree Hill, and the local television program Today’s Builder.
