The Department of English at UNCW provides an exceptional academic experience grounded in critical inquiry, creativity and application.

Welcome to the Department of English

We offer three robust curriculum tracks in literary studies, professional writing and teacher licensure for students pursuing a B.A. in English. At the graduate level, students can design an intellectually sophisticated course of study that aligns with their personal and professional objectives.

We also offer a post-baccalaureate certificate in science and medical writing. Our students pursue careers as entrepreneurs, technical writers, authors, foreign and civil servants, reporters and editors, teachers, professors, website developers, lawyers, and health care professionals.
