Deadline Extended: Papers and Panel Proposals due Sunday, March 1, 2015
The theme of the conference is “Integrated Marketing Communication: Creating Spaces for Engagement.” A key goal of the conference is to explore how Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC), as grounded in the communication discipline, enables community engagement. This conference theme is inspired by the work of 2015 Conference Keynote Speaker Dr. J. Kevin Barge in communication design theory, with a focus on creating spaces for community engagement and collaboration.
Wilmington is situated between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean in southeastern North Carolina. Our nickname is “the Port City” and much of our history is tied to our geographic location. UNCW’s campus is 15 minutes away from historic downtown Wilmington to the west and Wrightsville Beach to the east.
The IMC Conference logo, designed by students on the Fall 2014 Pier601 Creative team, incorporates the North Carolina state shell, the scotch bonnet, with the waves that reflect UNCW’s location on the Atlantic coast. Pier601 Creative, the UNCW Department of Communication Studies’ student-run IMC and creative services firm, wanted this year’s logo to represent the emphasis on engagement with the communities in which we live through IMC and to honor our own location and identity as a public regional university.
