Additional Membership Options

The following university employees are currently eligible for membership to the LSRC:

  • Permanent faculty/staff
  • Part-time faculty/staff
  • Temporary (with valid ID and verified length of employment from supervisor)
  • Retirees

To ensure ID activation, faculty and staff who desire access to the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center are asked to opt in to have their ID activated. Staff can visit either the Campus Recreation office or Member Services Desk in the LSRC to complete enrollment forms. Access will be granted once an application, user agreement and informed consent form, and verification have been completed.

This access is sponsored at the university level on an annual basis. It is subject to change. It is not a state benefit guaranteed with employment.

These individuals are eligible for a membership to use the LSRC. The LSRC does not allow these individuals to purchase memberships for dependent children or other family members.

  1. To purchase a membership, a dependent ID card must be purchased from Auxiliary Services.  Auxiliary Services Spouse/Dependent Policy requires the UNCW employee/retiree to be present when obtaining an ID for family members.
  2. Once an ID is obtained an application must be completed in the Campus Recreation office located in the LSRC. Campus Recreation Membership Policy requires the UNCW employee/retiree to be present when obtaining a membership for their spouse.

Membership Rates

  • Full Year (August 1 - July 31): $540.00
  • Fall Semester (August 1 - Mid December): $225.00
  • Spring Semester (January 1 - May 31): $225.00
  • Academic Year (August 1 - May 31): $450.00
  • Summer (May 1 - July 31): $135.00

Payment options include cash, check, credit card (visa/mastercard) UNCW One card, or monthly payroll deduction. Permanent or retired employees may have their spouses membership payroll ducted monthly.

Guest passes allow individuals who are not members, who are 18 years or older, to utilize the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center, Outdoor Recreation Complex and Recreation Field Complex. Guests with a current valid government issued photo ID and UNCW sponsor with valid membership may purchase a guest pass for one day for $10.

  • Minors must be with a parent or guardian at all times.
  • UNCW students & members may sponsor up to two guests

Minors (Non-UNCW Students)

  • Minors are permitted from 4pm Friday through 5pm Sunday (during the academic year). This is due to the high volume of usage by our currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff.
    • During university breaks and summer sessions, family hours are extended to all open facility hours.
    • Members may purchase a guest pass for minors under 18 during these times to use the LSRC for $10 per guest visit (max 2 guests).
  • Adult sponsors must participate with, or directly supervise and closely watch minors at all times in all areas of the Rec Center.
  • Minors over the age of 16 may participate in any daily fitness class with an adult’s direct supervision and/or participation.
  • Minors under age 16 may not use the weight and fitness room or any cardiovascular machines at any time.
  • Minors participating in scheduled, programmed activities (e.g., camps, lessons, parties, tournaments) may use the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center during that activity only. These activities must be scheduled through the Department of Campus Recreation.
  • Members are expected to be familiar with the age restrictions posted in each activity are of the LSRC.
  • Swim Lessons
    • When you arrive for your swim lesson please check in with the Member Services Desk and they will contact the swim instructor to escort your group to the pool.

Visitors

Visitors who come to tour the facility without a UNCW tour guide must stop by the Member Services Desk to obtain a guest lanyard. If available, a guided tour by a Campus Recreation team member is preferred. Visitors may not participate in any activity or use of equipment.

Entrance/Exit Policy

Entry and exit of facilities must be through the designated main entrance and exit. Individuals entering or exiting through non-designated doors are subject to disciplinary action.

Alumni may purchase a guest pass without a sponsor upon presenting a valid UNCW Alumni One Card. Alumni are only able to sponsor themselves and not an additional guest.
  • An Alumni One Card may be purchased from Auxiliary Services. (Note: Campus Recreation does not receive any funds from the One Card fee).
