The UNCW Office of Cultural Arts presents a special engagement by Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Hailed as one of the greatest big bands of all time, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra features 15 of today’s finest jazz soloists and ensemble players.
Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis has garnered wide acclaim as one of the foremost jazz musicians of our time. He has produced over 30 jazz and classical recordings; won 9 GRAMMY Awards; and in 1997, Mr. Marsalis became the first jazz artist to be awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in music.
The January 15th performance will feature new repertoire developed for the upcoming Jazz at Lincoln Center series, and a special guest appearance by Joe Chambers, an internationally-acclaimed percussionist and the Thomas S. Kenan Distinguished Professor of Jazz at UNCW.
