Funding your gift
Cash Gifts & Bank Draft
Gifts of cash, either by check, credit card, or online, are available for immediate use by the university and are usually fully tax deductible by donors who itemize deduction on their tax returns. Checks should be made payable to the University of North Carolina Wilmington. You can print a gift form to return with your gift so your donation is properly credited.
Gifts can also be automatically transfered from your bank account at the frequency you choose and in the amount you designate. Sign up online.
UNCW Employees have the option to make a gift through payroll deduction. Please complete the form and send to advancement services at campus box 5905.
Pledges
Pledges are gift commitments paid over a period of time according to a prearranged payment schedule. Donors can receive reminders monthly, quarterly, or yearly, or set up an agreement where UNCW will periodically charge your credit card or debit your account. Indicate your pledge on the gift form or contact us for options and to set-up a pledge program that will work for you.
Gifts and pledges of $2,500 or more makes the contributor a member of the Chancellor's Club, one of the donor recognition clubs available at UNCW.
Company Matching Gifts
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find our if your company has a matching gift policy, visit our Matching Gifts Database. If you made a donation earlier in the year, you can still return the matching gift form and UNCW will be able to receive the matching gift.
Stocks, Securities & Mutual Fund Shares
Many donors make gifts in the form of appreciated securities in order to benefit from tax advantages. Gifts are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. To transfer stocks or bonds, complete the stock transfer online form.
Personal Property
Valuable collections, such as works of art, rare books, paintings or antiques, can help support teaching and enhance UNCW's campus. To make a non-cash gift, or Gift-in-Kind, contact us for information and to being the process..
Real Estate
Real estate can make a valuable gift to UNCW. An outright gift of real estate provides the donor with a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of the property, while also freeing the donor from real estate taxes, as well as maintenance and insurance costs. Another option is a bargain sale, which is part gift and part sale. The property is purchased by UNCW for an amount less than the appraised value. There are even methods by which you can contribute your current home now and still reside in it for life. For more information contact us.
