Administrative Fees

Effective July 1, 2013

State universities across the nation must develop a way to manage budget reductions while building for the future. UNCW is responding to this need with an innovative plan to generate new resources to build a strong philanthropy program while reducing University Advancement’s dependency on state funds.

The UNCW Board of Trustees established two fees illustrated below:

Administrative Fee: 5% of each non-endowment gift; full gift remains tax-deductible.

• Other North Carolina universities and their fees: ECU, 3%; NC State, 5%; UNC Chapel Hill, 10% from annual fund gifts.

Endowment Administrative Fee: 1.25% of endowed accounts calculated annually if endowed account generates adequate funds to support the fee after the payout is made to the designated student or academic program.

• Other NC universities and their fees: UNC Chapel Hill, .08%; ECU, 1.11%; Appalachian State, 1.25%.
