The PARS was founded by UNCW students dedicated to the study of philosophy, religion and discussing scholarly topics from all fields of study.
Students tutor one another and create an on-campus social network to help each other enjoy our UNCW experience. Additionally, the PARS attends and sponsors debates.
2/15 PARS will be watching an episode of Black Mirror, “Be Right Back,” that explores the relationship between grief and Artificial Intelligence.
2/29 PARS Vice President, Jay Burgart, will be presenting on Apocalypse in Media, focusing on Terminator.
3/15 Dr. Beverly McGuire will be presenting on Gaming and Grieving. She will be describing the similarities between the experience of grief and the elements of games such as Mandagon that present landscapes, game physics, and other aspects that are reflective of the experience of grief. She will also talk about why this matters and how it can be applied.
3/21 Dr. Jamie Brummitt will be presenting on Gorge Washington’s Mausoleum. We are awaiting further information.
