Watson College Dean Van Dempsey Appointed to State Education Commission 
Van Dempsey, dean of UNCW’s Watson College of Education, has been named to the Professional Educator Preparation and Standards Commission, formed to advise the State Board of Education on topics related to professional standards of practice. His two-year term begins September 1. Read more >

2017 North Carolina School-University Partnership Summit - Oct. 20-21
The Watson College of Education invites you to participate in a summit of UNC school-university partnerships. School partners and colleagues from each of our 15 UNC institutions are invited to submit proposals aligned with the theme Blurring Boundaries: Creating Opportunities for School-University Partnerships. Throughout the summit, participants will pose current school-university partnership problems of practice, explore the successes and challenges of each, and take away new ideas related to our collaborative work. Partners are encouraged to submit proposals and register in teams of five. We welcome multiple teams and presentations from individual institutions and schools! Learn more >

Art for the Masses - Nov. 18
Since 2012, UNCW has been home to "Art for the Masses," a show and sale intended to help emerging artists find an audience while allowing attendees to purchase unique pieces handcrafted by regional artists at affordable prices. Participating artists retain 100 percent of the proceeds from their sales. AFTM is free and open to the public with a requested door donation to help fund public arts projects at the university. The program is coordinated through Campus Life Arts and Programs and the Department of Art and Art History. Applications open for the 2017 show on Monday, Aug. 21 and close Friday, Sept. 29
