MFA Certificate in Publishing
Application Process

Annual application deadline: March 1 (11:59 p.m. EST)

Eligibility and prerequisite: Students seeking to apply for the post-baccalaureate publishing certificate must be currently enrolled in the UNCW MFA in Creative Writing program and must first complete the introductory course, CRW 520, Publishing Process. Acceptable fulfillment of CRW 520 constitutes the minimum requirement for, but does not guarantee, admission to the Certificate in Publishing. 

Essay: In an essay of no more than three pages, double-spaced, applicant should address goals in the field of publishing, supported by foundational experiences in CRW 520 and at least one practicum offering from ChautauquaEcotone, or Lookout Books. The essay should also address related experience in marketing or publicity, editing for a magazine or imprint, creating digital content, or pursuing other relevant preparatory experience.
