Lookout Welcomes New Publishing Assistant

Caitlin Taylor, a third year fiction candidate in UNC Wilmington’s MFA program, has been named graduate Publishing Assistant for Lookout Books. She steps into the role vacated by graduating MFA student Kate McMullen, who recently accepted a position as Assistant Director of Hub City Press. Taylor is currently the fiction editor for Ecotone magazine and a summer intern at the independent press Milkweed Editions in Minneapolis, where she hopes to strengthen her acquisition and marketing skills.

“After taking the Lookout practicum this spring, I knew I wanted more hands-on learning,” says Taylor. “I love the editorial work I get to do with Ecotone, and it's only made me want to expand my publishing skillset.” In faculty member Emily Smith’s practicum course, Taylor spearheaded preliminary marketing efforts for a forthcoming anthology of essays by women.

“I’ve long been impressed by Caitlin’s unflagging energy and commitment to our authors and their writing,” says Lookout publisher Emily Louise Smith. “I’m excited to work with her toward bringing our next title to readers.”
