Visiting Writer Kim Barnes to Read at the University of North Carolina Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C.— Kim Barnes, visiting writer in the Department of Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, will read at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 20, in Kenan Hall 1111.

Kim Barnes's novels and memoirs have been named among the best books of the year by San Francisco Chronicle, The Seattle Times, The Washington Post, and The Kansas City Star. A Country Called Home received the PEN Center USA Literary Award for Fiction, and she is a recipient of the PEN/Jerard Award for her first memoir, In the Wilderness, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Her work has appeared in a number of journals and anthologies, including The New York Times, The Georgia Review, Shenandoah, The Best of O Magazine, Los Angeles Review of Books, and the Pushcart Prize anthology.

This event is free and open to the public. A reception sponsored by the department and book signing sponsored by Pomegranate Books will follow the reading.
