WILMINGTON, N.C. — Anna Lena Phillips Bell, UNCW creative writing instructor and Ecotone editor, will celebrate her forthcoming poetry chapbook, Smaller Songs, with a via Zoom on September 24 at 7 p.m. Please visit https://uncw.edu/writers/calendar.html for Zoom link.
The reading will be followed by a print shop visit with Smaller Songs publisher, Emily Hancock of St. Brigid Press, as well as old-time music by The Hushpuppies, which consists of Smaller Songs illustrator Molly Stouten and Steve Terril.
Anna Lena Phillips Bell is the author of Ornament, winner of the Vassar Miller Poetry Prize, A Pocket Book of Forms, a guide to poetic forms, and the chapbook Smaller Songs, from St. Brigid Press. Her poems appear in 32 Poems, Five Points, the Southern Review, and Subtropics. The recipient of a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship in literature, she has served since 2013 as the editor of Ecotone, the award-winning literary magazine of place, and an editor of Lookout Books. She teaches in the creative writing department at UNC Wilmington.
