Starfish Student Success Manager

Congratulations Melissa Friddle, new Starfish Student Success Manager

Melissa FriddleUNCW and Undergraduate Studies is happy to announce the appointment of Melissa Friddle to the position of Starfish system manager.  Melissa comes to her new role after joining UNCW in 2012, initially serving in the Office of the Registrar.  She helped develop processes for the OAP (Online Accelerated Programs) for two years prior to transitioning to University College in 2016.  She has been an Academic Advisor for the last three years and managed the advising and registration portion of Freshman Orientation.  She earned an undergraduate degree in Music from Winthrop University and a Masters of Business Administration from Appalachian State University.  Her diverse experiences positions her well to support students, faculty and staff in this newly-created role.

As Starfish manager, Melissa will work closely with UNCW advisors, staff, and faculty across campus to encourage adoption and thoughtful use of the system, which promises to make it much easier for students and those who work directly with them to share information, connect to crucial campus resources, and communicate around courses, advising, tutoring, housing, financial aid, the library, and other vital student services.  Melissa will also collaborate with academic and student affairs leadership in developing strategies for student success that take advantage of Starfish’s capacity to improve outreach and communication across campus.

Please join us in congratulating her on her new position, which begins August 20.
