My Lord What a Morning Banner

“My Lord What a Morning” is a collection of sunrise and morning images captured along the coastline and waterways of New Hanover County. Photography is a form of meditation that allows Venita Jenkins to reflect on life and connect with nature. Each image illustrates the beauty of God’s creation and the promise of a new day, a new beginning.

Venita began capturing these images shortly after moving to Wilmington in 2014. What started as few photos taken during morning walks grew into hundreds of vibrant images of the sun rising in the horizon and beautiful reflections within pools of water along the shoreline.

Venita serves as a content communication specialist in the Office of University Relations at UNC Wilmington. Her duties include producing content for the university’s website, UNCW Magazine and marketing materials and serving on the OUR social media team. Venita has more than a decade of journalism experience, working at small and regional newspapers throughout North Carolina. She also served as the associate director of media relations at the University of Central Arkansas.
