Academic Advising & Registration

You will find UNCW offers a lot of support for students. We care about your success at UNCW and want to help you make a successful transition to UNCW - academically, personally, and socially. Advisors will help you to research and meet graduation requirements and plan for courses, connect you with resources and opportunities on campus, and support your transition to UNCW, but we also expect you to become engaged partners in this planning and take responsibility for your academic planning, become informed about requirements, and ask questions. Advisors assist students with many aspects of academic planning and academic success, not just registration.

Advisors will advise students and make recommendations for courses based on graduation goals and requirements, but we do not actually register students for classes nor can we guarantee specific class availability. Students register themselves after meeting with advisors according to day and time assigned each semester. Student MUST meet with their advisor each semester to receive their registration PIN.

New students will register for the fall semester at orientation in a group setting, working with several advisors. From then on, you will meet individually with your UC advisor to plan for future semesters. You must meet with your academic advisors once/semester for registration planning, but advisors are available throughout the semester. Make sure to check your UNCW email for announcements and important dates from UC and your advisor. Students will be assigned their advisor close to the fall semester and can locate their advisor's information on SeaNet under "Registration," then "Advisor Information."
