Transition Programs

Teal Bridge Mentor Program Header

The Teal Bridge Mentor Program places new transfer students who request a mentor in groups of 6-8 with an experienced transfer student leader, or Teal Bridge Mentor. Every month, Teal Bridge Mentors meet with their mentees once individually, once as a small group, and place one large group event/program for the entire cohort of mentees.

The small group structure of the Teal Bridge Mentor Program allows new transfer students to connect and build relationships with other new transfer students. Within their groups, Teal Bridge Mentors serve as an experienced resource and guide to their mentees, offering academic and social support during their mentee's first semester at UNCW.

As students who have already navigated the transition to UNCW, Teal Bridge Mentors are able to share their experiences and expertise to help new transfer students. Teal Bridge Mentors help guide new students as they learn where things are on campus and the processes at UNCW. They also direct transfer students to the appropriate resources when they have questions or need help. Because they are familiar with Wilmington and the surrounding area, they can also help students become familiar with local attractions.
