How do I register for a Swain Center program?

Select ‘Programs’ under the Swain Center Web page navigation menu and click on the program of interest. Click on the ‘Register Now’ button to register. [Back to Top]

Can I register now and pay later?

What is the last day to register for a program?

It is best to register at least one week before the course starts to make sure you receive all of the materials. The date a course starts is posted on its program website. [Back to Top]


Where do I park?

Parking instructions are sent to all individuals who register for a course. Visit our Contact Us page for directions IF your program is held on campus. Otherwise off campus parking information will be in an email you receive the week before the course begins. Depending on the day and time of the course, you may need a parking pass. Are payment plans available?

You will have to pay in full when you register. You may pay with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express credit card. [Back to Top]

Do UNCW employees or students receive discounts on the courses?

Yes - Anyone who is currently enrolled at UNCW and attending classes for academic credit, whether undergraduate or graduate, is eligible for the 10% discount on Swain Center open enrollment professional development courses and programs.  [Back to Top]

Are there scholarships or financial aid available?

Many participants take courses that are paid by their employer or by a sponsoring institution. We encourage you to check with your employer about professional development expenses. The Swain Center does not provide scholarships or financial aid and UNCW financial aid is not available for courses through the Swain Center. [Back to Top]

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

In the unfortunate event that you need to cancel your registration, you may be responsible for partial payment. We incur costs in registration, program materials, etc. that are reflected in our refund policy based on when notice is given for cancellation.

Am I able to transfer my payment to the next program date?

You may transfer your registration to the next consecutive offering if a conflict arises and you are not able to attend. If it is an in-person workshop but an online option for the same topic is offered then you may select either option. In order to request at transfer, you must send your request by email (preferred) to or ATTN Swain Center, 601 S. College Rd, Wilmington, NC 28403 Transfers must be requested before the start of the program.

What is the policy for weather-related events?
