SPARC Internal Funding Opportunities

Sponsored Programs and Research Compliance office (SPARC) supported internal funding is available to support and encourage faculty research, scholarship, and creative proposals.

These programs are intended to enhance the ability of UNCW faculty to grow the impact of their research and scholarship programs, compete for external funding for their research, scholarly, or creative work, and/or lead to publication. 

SPARC currently offers 2 choices for internally funded opportunities.
NOTE: Faculty may only apply for one opportunity.

Internal Submission

Funding for support to develop external research with an optional supplement for a mentor.

Are you a new researcher? Do you need funding for artistic projects or scholarly activities?


Research Momentum Funds

The Research Momentum Fund is an opportunity to support faculty in their effort to secure external funding for their research, scholarship, and creative activities. The Associate Provost for Research and Innovation along with the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs worked together to launch the Research Momentum Funds to help position UNCW for maximum impact in research, scholarship, and creative endeavors.  These funds will be competitively awarded based on the review and recommendations of a predetermined ad hoc review committee.

The annual Momentum application due date will be 5:00 pm, March 15.  If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date will be the closest following workday. Click Momentum Information to learn more.

Charles L. Cahill Grants

Charles L. Cahill Grants for Faculty Scholarship are awarded to full-time faculty to promote scholarship and artistic endeavors across the University. Facutly members who are new to research are encouraged to apply. Cahill Grants funding is competitively awarded based on the review and recommendations of the Faculty Senate Research Committee. The duration of this project is limited to one year and PIs may only receive one Cahill award every 2 years.
