  • J.D. George Washington University School of Law
  • B.A. History, Boston State College

I am a licensed attorney and have represented both government and private entities in various criminal and civil matters and I have successfully tried numerous cases to verdict in each of the jurisdictions where I've practiced law. I am currently licensed to practice law in North Carolina, Vermont, California, and New York.

At UNCW I have taught courses in Criminal Law and Procedure, Criminal Courts, Juvenile Delinquency, American Government, Minorities and Criminal Justice Policy, Constitutional Law, Sex Crimes, World Criminal Justice, and Introduction to Criminal Justice. During my time at UNCW I have developed a course for study abroad called International Criminal Justice where I've had the opportunity to take students to study the court systems of France, Sweden, and the International Courts in The Hague. I've also had the pleasure of taking students to Washington, visit the federal courts and hear oral argument at the United States Supreme Court.

Over the years, I have developed a profound interest in gaining a better understanding into the impact, various practices and procedures used in the legal system here in the United States, may have on victims of sexual violence. This interest led me to apply for and accept a Fulbright Scholarship in Canada where I will have an opportunity to teach, compare and learn more about Canadian and United States practices and procedures involving the handling of cases involving sexual violence.

Congratulations Babette Boyd, J.D. on your selection for a Prestigious J. William Fulbright Award to Canada
