- About Us
Sustainability involves awareness and understanding of the complex interdependence between social, economic and ecological systems. The choices Seahawks make in their daily lives affect the intricate interconnections between these systems in tangible or invisible ways.
As North Carolina’s premier coastal university, the University of North Carolina Wilmington takes great pride in maintaining and conserving the natural allure and resources of our coastal locale. We strive to weave these ideals into the university’s mission of teaching, scholarship, and service in a way that supports economic vitality, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
The Office of Sustainability works to implement and advocate for sustainable solutions campus-wide to ensure that Seahawks of tomorrow can benefit from and enjoy what we have access to today. We accomplish our work through meaningful partnerships and outreach that is supported by our four values: responsible, resilient, resourceful, and reach.
LEAVES ACROSS CAMPUS
Sustainability can be seen across campus. When you see our leaf on a sign or incorporated into a logo, you know it is a sustainable initiative. Any department or organization can request a leaf for any program, project, or research involving sustainability!
