UNCW Alert Safety App

UNCW Alert (SafeZone)

As part of UNCW’s commitment to campus safety, The University Police Department has partnered with SafeZone to acquire a new UNCW Alert safety app. The UNCW Alert app allows UNCW students, faculty and staff to contact University Police for emergency and non-emergency assistance while on campus. You can use this app to quickly share your location and profile details with University Police staff to ensure a timely response and connection to the appropriate resources.

Important Note: the UNCW Alert safety app replaced the previous campus safety app, LiveSafe. If you currently use the LiveSafe app for UNCW, please remove it from your phone and follow the instructions below to download our new safety app.

Features

  1. Emergency: Place an emergency call to the nearest 911
  2. Non-Emergency: Use for building access, vehicle jump-starts, and safety escorts. Reach UNCW Police via call or text
  3. Report a Tip: Share suspicious activity or helpful information anonymously with the option to add a photo and location. 
  4. Check-In Timer: Share your location with University Police if you are walking alone or feel vulnerable in an area on campus. If you do not clear the check-in timer or if you drop your phone, an alarm will alert the University Police for a response.
  5. Emergency Notifications: In the event of an emergency, an alert will be sent out with instructions for the user. 

Download & Register

Faculty, staff and students may sign up by following these steps:

  1. Download and install “SafeZone”.
    Google Play Apple App Store
  2. Register the app with your UNCW credentials.
  3. It may ask for a "group". Leave it blank.
  4. Confirm your phone number.
