The UNCW IFC is home to 15 national fraternal organizations. To become a member of the Interfraternity Council, start by researching the fraternities affiliated with the IFC.
There are two main ways to join a chapter: the formal week-long recruitment process at the beginning of each semester that requires registration. These events, dates, and registration information is released and planned by the IFC and can be found on social media, website, and other communications.
Requirements
The constitution and bylaws of the Interfraternity Council state that in order to participate in recruitment you must be enrolled at UNCW full-time (12hrs or above) and have UNCW GPA of 2.5. If you are a transfer or first year student to UNCW, the required GPA is not required.
2023 Fall Recruitment Schedule
- August 23rd: FDOC, "Welcome Back" FSL Cookout
- August 24th: IFC Sponsored Event: Might as Well Grill (MAW) Percentage Night
- August 25th: IFC Sponsored Event: Spikeball Tournament on campus, with prizes
- August 28th-September 4th: Chapter Sponsored Events, aka "Rush Week"
- September 8th: Formal Acceptance Day
No Potential New Member (PNM) can accept bids until September 8th. You may recieve a bid at any point during rush, but are not required or formally accept until the 8th of September.
Additionally, IFC encourages all chapters to recruit year-round, but will have their own limitations and policies surrounding these practices. For more information on this “365 recruitment” you can reach out to IFC or individual chapter recruitment chairmen.
