UNCW’s Office of the Arts collaborates with the five academic arts departments as well as community partners to curate the UNCW Presents Series, manage Kenan Auditorium, and advocate for the arts on campus and in the Wilmington community. However, none of this would be possible without the support of our volunteers.
Volunteers are the first point of contact for patrons upon their arrival at every show. Volunteers handle many of the logistical tasks that allow our events to operate smoothly, while also serving as a resource for patrons.
Before events, the House Manager will assign each volunteer a specific task. The range of responsibilities for volunteers varies depending on the nature of the event.
UNCW students can report their time served with the Office of the Arts as community service.
General Volunteer Duties
- Greet and guide patrons as they arrive at the venue.
- Scan and read tickets, directing patrons to their seats.
- Distribute programs to patrons.
- Assist the Box Office as needed.
- Remain alert during the show to any potential disruptions, including the usage of electronic devices. Direct any safety concerns or problems to the House Manager immediately.
- Other duties are assigned as appropriate.
UNCW's Office of Arts organizes volunteers for Kenan Auditorium, Beckwith Recital Hall, Mainstage Theatre, and SRO Theatre. Please contact Abigail Beck, Operations Manager, or call her at 910.962.3931 with any questions.
Join us the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. in the lobby of Kenan Auditorium for volunteer training for new and returning volunteers. (Runtime 45 minutes)
