UNCW Kenan Auditorium is delighted to share a series of programs for families called SEAHAWK Family Arts Matinees, or SEAHAWK FAM for short. You can catch these special one-hour shows on Thursday mornings throughout July and August, all in UNCW’s Kenan Auditorium. With just a $5 admission, SEAHAWK FAM is designed as a creative and entertaining respite from the summer heat. Bring the whole family – and your friends – to enjoy performances created especially for families of all kinds!
June 25 - Mr. Scooter
Mr. Scooter is a Wilmington, North Carolina–based storyteller, rapper, and children’s librarian who brings books to life through high-energy performances that blend hip-hop, humor, and audience participation. He is the creator of Book Wrangler and Rap Battle of the Books and has released two children’s albums as Melvil Dewey – International Library Hip Hop Superstar.
July 2 - No Sleeves Magic: Professor Buckets
Professor Buckets of No Sleeves Magic delivers a fast-paced, high-energy magic show packed with jaw-dropping tricks, comedy, and nonstop audience participation. With a quirky personality and playful style, he turns classic magic into an unforgettable experience that keeps kids and families laughing and amazed from start to finish.
July 9 - Donna Washington, Storyteller
Donna Washington is an internationally acclaimed storyteller, author, and recording artist with over 36 years of experience. Known for her dynamic performances of folklore, literary tales, and personal narratives, she captivates audiences of all ages. An award-winning artist and author of six children's books, Donna continues to inspire and educate through storytelling worldwide.
July 16 - Mad Science: Fire and Ice
Mad Science: Fire and Ice is a thrilling, interactive science show that explores the extremes of temperature through exciting experiments, dazzling demonstrations, and audience participation. With fiery reactions, icy surprises, and plenty of “wow” moments, this high-energy performance makes science fun, memorable, and cool for all ages.
July 23 - Bright Star Theatre: Dino Academy
Bright Star Theatre’s Dino Academy invites young explorers to enroll in a lively prehistoric program where curiosity, creativity, and dinosaurs collide. Through playful storytelling, colorful characters, and interactive moments, the show sparks imagination while delivering big laughs and dino-sized fun for the whole family.
July 30 - No Sleeves Magic: Tricky Ricky Ninja Show
No Sleeves Magic’s Tricky Ricky Ninja Show is an action-packed performance that blends ninja stunts, clever illusions, and comedy into a thrilling experience. With surprise twists, audience participation, and tricks that keep everyone guessing, kids and grown-ups alike are entertained from start to finish.
