UNCW to Host NC Biotech Funding Workshop

Join us to explore grants and loans available to researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Southeastern North Carolina. Funding sources to be discussed include the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, UNCW Office of Innovation and Commercialization, NC IDEA, NSF I-Corps, and others. Following the presentations and discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with NC Biotechnology Center and UNCW representatives to discuss the programs in more detail, especially as the grant programs apply to the attendees’ research funding needs.

  • Funding programs to be discussed include the Flash Grant, the Translational Research Grant, the Innovation Impact Grant and Emerging Company Development Loans

  • OIC Translational Research Grants: The UNCW Office of Innovation + Commercialization translational research grants specifically aim to stimulate commercially focused research and creative activity that result in societal impact and practical application. Open to all UNCW faculty, OIC provides grant funding, training, and mentorship to foster innovations and solutions that have practical application off-campus through licensing, external partnership, or another pathway.   • UNCW + NCSU I-Corps Program Partnership: Funded by the National Science Foundation, I-Corps helps prepare innovators to extend their novel ideas beyond laboratories and classrooms. Through I-Corps, participants receive grant funding to identify valuable product opportunities and gain skills in entrepreneurship through training in customer discovery and guidance from established entrepreneurs.
