About Us

QENO was initiated in 2006 through the collaborative efforts of local funders, community leaders, and UNCW faculty and administrators from the Masters in Public Administration (MPA) program who shared the goal of expanding opportunities for local non-profits to network and receive training in non-profit best practices.

Today, QENO has matured into a university-wide office led by Director, Natasha Davis with strong institutional support of UNCW's Office of Community Engagement. QENO leads multiple university-wide collaborations to provide increased resources to our region's nonprofit sector.

Primary funders include:

  • Duke Energy Foundation
  • Cape Fear Memorial Foundation
  • The Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of North Carolina

QENO staff members, UNCW faculty, and independent contractors facilitate interactive workshops and training seminars on topics such as board governance, financial management, human resource management, marketing, and leadership. QENO also provides on-site organizational coaching or customized trainings by experts in the areas of:

  • Organizational assessment
  • Basic board development
  • Advanced board development
  • Strategic planning
  • Program evaluation
  • Strategic restructuring/leadership transitions
  • One-on-one leadership coaching
  • Staff performance/HR planning
