As of July 2017, the UNCW Department of Psychology has one current opening for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology with a research focus related to substance use.

Assistant Professor in Psychology with a research focus in the area of Behavioral Neuroscience

The department is seeking a candidate who will develop a productive research program that will be highly competitive for external funding and provide training opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds. The research specialty is open to all subfields of behavioral neuroscience. A candidate with the potential to collaborate with the department’s existing faculty is desirable. Candidates working with animal models are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record and relevant postdoctoral experience. The position will begin in August 2018. Successful candidates will be prepared to teach neuroscience-related and core courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology with a research focus related to substance use.

The Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology with a research focus related to substance use. Applicants must obtain NC licensure as a Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider and participate in the PhD program as a core-faculty member as part of the requirements for tenure. UNCW is a 15,000 student comprehensive university located on the scenic North Carolina coast. The department has 35 full-time faculty members and serves 600 undergraduate and 65 graduate majors. The Clinical PhD program plans to seek APA accreditation. The program emphasizes the integration of science and practice and values both basic and applied research on human behavior across the life span. All applicants should show evidence of a strong independent research program, a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds, and excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and clinical supervision. Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an APA accredited clinical program and be licensed or license-eligible in North Carolina. Applicants should have completed a doctorate in psychology by August 1, 2017 (ABDs will be considered). Although teaching, clinical supervision, and research are the primary responsibilities, service is also expected. Salary is competitive. The position will begin in August, 2017.
