K. Ryan Wennerlind
Director for Comprehensive Transition Postsecondary Program
K. Ryan Wennerlind is the director of the Inclusive Futures Program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He loves working in the field of special education. Ryan came to the University of North Carolina Wilmington as a faculty member in the Watson College of Education teaching future special education teachers before becoming the director of the Inclusive Futures Program. Previously, Ryan served as the director of Project FOCUS, an inclusive postsecondary education program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In his time at Project FOCUS, Ryan oversaw development of the program with growth from one student to twenty-five students. Prior to his time at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, he worked as a high school special education teacher where he taught individuals with intellectual disabilities in Las Vegas, Nevada. Family is important to Ryan and he is married to his wife, Karmann, of 20 years and the two have three children (1 boy and 2 girls), Kai-11 years old, Kamryn-8 years old, and Kendall-5 years old. They are always busy with many family activities!
