Andrea Weaver
Chief Marketing & Communications Officer
Andrea leads the University Relations team of 20 staff members, handling communications, marketing, media relations, content creation and management of the university website and social media accounts. Her team also produces UNCW Magazine, a monthly Chancellor’s newsletter, a weekly faculty and staff newsletter, and manages around 1,000 design, writing, editing, photography and video projects annually. She joined UNCW in 2004 and previously served as interim Chief Communications Officer, Deputy Director, Community Relations Manager and Communications Specialist. She also held communications roles at Meredith College, Peace College (now William Peace University) and Pfeiffer University. Early in her career, Andrea was a journalist at the Wilmington StarNews and the Greensboro News & Record. She is a former College News Association of the Carolinas president, board member and recipient of the H. Lewis Gaston Award.
