Stephanie Turrise

Professor

Earning a BSN in Nursing from Bloomsburg University in 1995, Dr. Stephanie Turrise immediately began working as a staff RN in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey. She also has experience in Cardiopulmonary and Cardiac Stepdown units, Hematology/Oncology, and Cardiac Rehabilitation. She went on to earn her MSN (adult nurse practitioner) and PhD in Nursing from Rutgers and an MBA from UNCW. Turrise also holds a Post-Master Certificate in Nursing Education and Higher Education and Leadership. She joined UNCW as a lecturer in 2004 and was promoted to assistant professor in 2014, associate professor in 2020, and professor in 2024. She has served in various leadership positions including course coordinator, associate director for administration (2020-2023), and CHHS leadership fellow for research and scholarship. She is a fellow in the American Heart Association and a certified heart failure nurse with a passion for cardiovascular disease prevention and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic cardiovascular disease.
