Sarah M. Smith
Director of Graduate Student Services
Sarah holds a BSBA in Finance (Financial Services)and an MBA from East Carolina University. She obtained her Ed. D in Educational Leadership (Higher Education) from UNC- Wilmington. Her dissertation focused on professional industry preparation of graduate accounting students during the pandemic ("The Effects of Virtual Socialization on Graduate Accounting Students' Profession Readiness During the COVID-19 Pandemic"). Sarah worked for several years in commercial and retail lending with community banks before transitioning to higher education in 2012. Her areas of teaching interest include Corporate Finance, Financial Management and Commercial Bank Management. Sarah came to UNCW in 2018 and held the role of Master of Science in Accountancy Coordinator until 2021. She currently serves as the Director of Graduate Student Services for the Cameron School of Business.
