Emerald L Sanoguel

Academic Advisor

Emerald started in the Academic Resource Center for the College of Science and Engineering in November of 2024. She is dedicated to student success and holistic wellbeing by connecting with students through empathy and compassion. They come from Coastal Carolina Community College where she served as an Academic Advisor who assisted first generation, non-traditional, and transfer students through their academic planning and goals. She also previously worked at the University of North Carolina Greensboro as an Academic Recovery Coordinator. While in this position, she learned the importance of work-life balance and brings these lessons in student meetings by encouraging students to practice self-care and other wellness techniques to improve their overall wellbeing for academic success. Emerald is currently working on her second masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through the North Carolina State University. In their free time they enjoy cooking, reading, watching movies and shows from various fandoms (ex. Supernatural, Avatar the Last Airbender, Studio Ghibli, Marvel and DC universe, etc.) listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite hobby would be reading and browsing bookstores with an iced coffee in hand.
