Carolina Priester
Senior Lecturer
I've been a faculty member at the UNCW Department of Biology and Marine Biology since 2012. I teach Animal Nutrition, Vertebrate Histology, Food as Preventive Medicine, and Human Anatomy and Physiology. While I do not maintain a n extramurally funded research program, I do engage undergraduate students in research when my students and/or I receive internal grants. In the past, I have mentored students investigating the human microbiome, stress hormone levels in human saliva, perceived stress, and histology/microscopic structure of fish muscle, gill, and intestinal tissues. I continuously innovate teaching strategies and learning activities to enhance the learning experience of students taking my courses. I also strive to be a resource to faculty in my department and at the university level by participating in and hosting workshops in the UNCW Center for Teaching Excellence.
