Christopher J. Moreland
Academic Advisor
Christopher J. Moreland joined Center for Academic Advising as an Academic Advisor in 2020. A native of Wilmington, Chris received his BA in History and Religion and MA in History from UNCW and did doctoral work on the history of the Cold War at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. Prior to working for Center for Academic Advising, Chris taught as an adjunct instructor for the Department of Philosophy and Religion for four years. He remains active in this field, teaching PAR 103 and PAR 225. During his time in Berkeley, Chris served as the office manager for GTU’s Center for Jewish Studies and a program assistant for the Diocese of Oakland.
Empathetic and pragmatic, Chris encourages students to embrace every facet of their UNCW experience. He loves introducing students to his hometown by acquainting them with local attractions and dining options.
Chris has a dedication to creating learning spaces marked by honest but charitable dialogue, inquisitiveness, courtesy, and the free exchange of ideas. As an academic advisor, Chris employs a holistic approach to student development and delights in helping students discover their academic and professional interests. In his spare time, Chris enjoys video gaming, reading on the beach, and socializing with friends.
